Re-election

Renton (12 votes) were re-elected. Dundee (12 votes) and St Bernard's (8 votes) were elected to the League. Clyde (7 votes) and Abercorn (2 votes) were not re-elected.

Dundee were an amalgamation of two Northern League clubs (Our Boys and East End). Both theirs nd Renton's votes were transferred to St Bernard's in the second ballot.

The following clubs were excluded after a debate and did not take part in the re-election vote: Cowlairs, Hibernian, Linthouse, Morton, Port Glasgow Athletic and Thistle.

On 7 July 1893, the League decided to form a Second Division. The Scottish Football Alliance, the principal non-league competition, wanted its members to form a new section but the League themselves took on the responsibility of selecting the clubs.

On 10 July 1893, Abercorn and Clyde, who were not re-elected at the first AGM, were granted a place in the new section, as were Hibernian.

Cowlairs, Morton, Partick Thistle, Port Glasgow Athletic, Northern and Thistle (all Scottish Football Alliance) and Motherwell (Scottish Federation) were also selected to form the new division. The other members of the Alliance (Kilmarnock, Linthouse, Airdrieonians and Cambuslang) were refused entry.
