They protested against the decision on the basis that the ball had croseed the line, but had hit a spectator and rebounded into play. On the evening of Monday 19th April, the SFA Committee dismissed the appeal and ordered for the replay to played on 26th April. Rangers refused to turn up to play the replayed match. Vale of Leven and the officials did turn up to play the match and took to the pitch at the appointed time. The referee therefore awarded the match and the Cup to Vale of Leven. That decision needed to be ratified by the SFA, which they duly did a few days later. The entry for the season on the Cup itself states "Vale of Leven, Rangers did not appear". | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | 1879-80 | QUEEN'S PARK | | | | | 4th win | | 21 February 1880 | 4th final | Queen's Park | 3 | - | 0 | Thornliebank | 1st final | First Cathkin Park, Glasgow | | Highet (2), Ker | | | | | 4,000 | | | | | | | | | 1880-81 | QUEEN'S PARK | | | | | 5th win 4th replayed final | | 26 March 1881 | 5th final | Queen's Park | 2 | - | 1 | Dumbarton | 1st final | Kinning Park, Glasgow | A replay was ordered after a protest that crowd encrochment had resulted in the winning goal being scored. | McNeill, Kay | | | | McAuley | 15,000 | 9 April 1881 | Replay | Queen's Park | 3 | - | 1 | Dumbarton | | Kinning Park, Glasgow | | Smith 2, Ker | | | | Meikleham | 10,000 | | | | | | | | | 1881-82 | QUEEN'S PARK | | | | | 6th win 5th replayed final | | 18 March 1882 | 6th final | Queen's Park | 2 | - | 2 | Dumbarton | 2nd final | First Cathkin Park, Glasgow | | Harrower 2 | | | | Brown, Meikleham | 12,500 | 1 April 1882 | Replay | Queen's Park | 4 | - | 1 | Dumbarton | | First Cathkin Park, Glasgow | | Richmond, Ker Harrower, Kay | | | | J. This was in protest that a request made on the Wednesday before the match was due to take place for a postponement due to bereavement, illness and injury had been refused by the Scottish FA. The awarding of the cup to Queen's Park had to be decided by an SFA Committee which was chaired by the President of the SFA who was also connected to Queen's Park. The matter was not clear-cut and there was alot of support for organising another game. This was shown in the narrowness of the final vote: 7-6 in favour of awarding the cup to Queen's Park. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | 1884-85 | RENTON | | | | | 1st win 7th replayed final | | 21 February 1885 | 2nd final | Renton | 0 | - | 0 | Vale of Leven | 7th final | Second Hampden Park, Glasgow | | | | | | | 3,000 | 28 February 1885 | Replay | Renton | 3 | - | 1 | Vale of Leven | | Second Hampden Park, Glasgow | | J. However, the competition rules stated that this would only be played after the 2nd replay. When it became clear to the spectators that extra time would not be played, and fuelled by rumours that the results were manipulated to increase ticket revenue, the crowd invaded the pitch. In the ensuing disorder, the goalposts were torn down, parts of the pitch were ripped up and the wooden pay-boxes set alight. Mounted police and the fire brigade also came under attack and in total there were over 100 injuries. Both clubs requested for Scottish FA not to reschedule a 2nd replay and, subsequently, the trophy and medals were withheld. Queen's Park FC, the owners of Hampden Park, were paid £500 (approx. £41,000 today) in compensation by the SFA who ordered both clubs to pay and additiional £150 (approx. £12,500 today) each. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | 1909-10 | DUNDEE | | | | | 1st win 12th replayed final | | 9 April 1910 | 1st final | Dundee | 2 | - | 2 | Clyde | 1st final | Ibrox Park, Glasgow | 5th in Division One v 7th in Division One | Blair (og), Langlands | | | | Chalmers, Booth | 60,000 | 16 April 1910 | Replay | Dundee | 0 | - | 0 | Clyde | aet | Ibrox Park, Glasgow | 4th in Division One v 6th in Division One | | | | | | 25,000 | 20 April 1910 | 2nd replay | Dundee | 2 | - | 1 | Clyde | | Ibrox Park, Glasgow | 5th in Division One v 8th in Division One | Bellamy, Hunter | | | | Chalmers | 25,000 | | | | | | | | | 1910-11 | CELTIC | | | | | 6th win 13th replayed final | | 8 April 1911 | 13th final | Celtic | 0 | - | 0 | Hamilton Academical | 1st final | Ibrox Park, Glasgow | 5th in Division One v 17th in Division One | | | | | | 45,000 | 15 April 1911 | Replay | Celtic | 2 | - | 0 | Hamilton Academical | | Ibrox Park, Glasgow | 8th in Division One v 15th in Division One | Quinn, McAteer | | | | | 25,000 | | | | | | | | | 1911-12 | CELTIC | | | | | 7th win | | 6 April 1912 | 14th final | Celtic | 2 | - | 0 | Clyde | 2nd final | Ibrox Park, Glasgow | 2nd in Division One v 3rd in Division One | Gallagher, McMenemy | | | | | 45,000 | | | | | | | | | 1912-13 | FALKIRK | | | | | 1st win | | 12 April 1913 | 1st final | Falkirk | 2 | - | 0 | Raith Rovers | 1st final | Celtic Park, Glasgow | 6th in Division One v 17th in Division One | Robertson, Logan | | | | | 45,000 | | | | | | | | | 1913-14 | CELTIC | | | | | 8th win 3rd double achieved 14th replayed final | | 11 April 1914 | 15th final | Celtic | 0 | - | 0 | Hibernian | 2nd final | Ibrox Park, Glasgow | 1st in Division One v 14th in Division One | | | | | | 56,000 | 16 April 1914 | Replay | Celtic | 4 | - | 1 | Hibernian | | Ibrox Park, Glasgow | 1st in Division One v 13th in Division One | McColl 2, Browning 2 | | | | Smith | 40,000 | | | | | | | | | 1914-19 | Competition suspended due to First World War | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | 1919-20 | KILMARNOCK | | | | | 1st win | | 17 April 1920 | 2nd final | Kilmarnock | 3 | - | 2 | Albion Rovers | 1st final | Celtic Park, Glasgow | 7th in Division One v 22nd in Division One | Culley, Short, J.
